Transportation

There are various options to travel within Shenzhen. The metro, buses and bikes are common means of transportation, and monthly passes are extremely affordable here. The monthly ticket for public transport is $20 while the basic tariff for 8 kilometres on taxi is $4.86.

Utilities

Basic utilities such as water, electricity, garbage disposal, heating and cooling can cost between $68 to $100. Data and unlimited internet has an average rate of $17.

Education

As the newest model city in China, higher education has never been better in Shenzhen. Some of China’s top-ranking universities such as Tsinghua University, Peking University, Chinese University of Hong Kong, and SUSTech University have set up campuses in the city. Depending on the program and university, yearly tuition fee ranges from $2,800 to $31,000.

A $100 budget for personal care and clothes is enough for a month in Shenzhen. For entertainment, a cocktail drink in a downtown club costs $9, one movie ticket is $7 and a fancy dinner will cost $50 to $75.
