Richard “Uncle Hanzi” Sears

Richard Sears, known in China as Uncle Hanzi, is an American Physicist and expatriate famous for listing a great number of ancient Chinese characters on its website He is one of the world’s experts in the origin of Chinese characters.

For American Physicist, Richard Sears, memorizing Chinese characters isn’t enough. You have to know the logic and origin behind every character. For this reason, he made a database of more than 96,000 ancient character symbols in his 30 years of research. Uncle Hanzi teaches the origin of Chinese characters and what they actually mean, and it is a very efficient way to learn Chinese.
