Positive news from China – Coronavirus Update – March 8th

Dear Students,

Here is an update about Coronavirus and the situation in China from Richard our CEO in Beijing.

Whats the situation in China?

China Admissions is based in Beijing and Beijing is one of the most popular study destinations.

So far there have been a total of 428 cases in Beijing.

In China the number of new cases has decreased very rapidly. Today there were 41 new cases, and many new cities have reported no new cases for 7-10 days.
In the chart below, the number of recovered has been increasing and those leaving has gone down.

This is good news for all around the world that this virus can be conquered.

Where is this data from?

The information here is from Thebeijinger here https://www.thebeijinger.com/blog/2020/01/22/coronavirus-count-in-beijing

TheBeijinger is getting data from Dr Lilac which is a professional medical consultation platform which is getting the data from official reports from the Chinese state media.

The Beijinger is also providing daily updates of the situation in Beijing here.

If you read Chinese, there is a great source of information on Wechat, which can be accessed here: https://news.qq.com/zt2020/page/feiyan.htm.

How do we feel about it?

The decrease is thanks to a lot of action being taken in China to stop the spread.

Many people ask us about how it is in China.

We do feel very safe here.

We are very grateful for the swift action in China.

Here is one student in HUST in Wuhan:

I am at HUST and our university did well to put a full quarantine on all buildings, no movement outside our apartments of residence.
At the same time, they took it upon themselves to provide us with free meals daily! 3 meals a day (breakfast, lunch and supper) so we are well and surviving well during the   epidemic.

What’s next?

We still need to be careful and take care, and at the moment we just need to wait and studying and working online, while things gradually come back to normal.

Right now in Beijing, people are going back to work, gradually, while also taking care of distance, and personal hygiene. We are still wearing masks outside, and making sure to wash hands.

Due to the rising number of international cases, Students who are outside China are not allowed to come back for the time being. Please make sure to read the article here. Students who return to China may receive disciplinary action.

We don’t know when the classes will be able to start, but hopefully soon.

Online Learning

While many Universities in China have stopped in person classes, they have been giving classes online. You can also register for online classes here, and check out some free info sessions here.

We recently had a great lecture on intercultural leadership which you can watch for yourself here.

This is such an important topic during this time
