2 Scholarship Tips for September 2022 Intake

Dear Students,

According to the available data the coronavirus situation is steadily improving in China. A number of universities have opened their admissions for September 2022 intake.

There is a saying that with every difficulty comes opportunity. I would like to share two tips for applying for the scholarships for 2022 intake.

Tip 1: Apply Early to increase your chances

It is always a good idea to apply to universities early. Especially now, when there has been a decrease in number of students applying to Chinese Universities. This actually means there is less competition right now while some people may be hesitant. .While September is 7 months away, we are fully expecting the situation to be back to normal way before then. If you apply early, your application will be reviewed earlier and you will have a larger opportunity than others who may delay their decision.

Please also note that China has a target of attracting 500,000 international students by 2020, and scholarships are a way of attracting more students.

Tip 2: Learn Chinese and get a certificate

One tip when applying for a scholarship is to learn Chinese. China wants students who will integrate well within China, understand the culture, and provide benefits to China and their home country. Learning Chinese is really important to understand Chinese culture, and to communicate with people in China.

It is also a demonstration of your commitment and willingness. It will also give you more opportunities within China.
The better your chinese level, the better your chances.
If you have no Chinese level now, then starting to learn Chinese is better than having no level, at least you can demonstrate your willingness to learn, commitment and you can include this in your application.

We suggest two popular Chinese programs for you. One is the group online classes by TICC which start at $3.5 USD per hour. You can buy a 4 week program for  499 RMB ($75 USD) and receive a certificate which you can include in your scholarship application. You can find more information here.

You can also check the BLCU 1 on 1 Online Chinese classes, which are personalised and 1 on 1 so they are around $12 USD. Beijing Language and Culture University is a top university for teaching Chinese to international students.

You can buy a 30 class package for 4500 RMB (Around 650 USD). The more classes you order, the lower the price. The program is designed to get you from beginner to fluent (HSK 6) in 490 classes 58,800 RMB ($8,400 USD, all online), which you can take in 41 weeks (less than 1 year, and 12 hours per week).  They also offer group classes at a slightly discounted rate. You can register for a free trial here. Where they will give you a free learning plan personalised for you. You will also get the certificate from BLCU which states the number of classes you have taken.
