About HKMU
Founded in 1989 by the Hong Kong SAR Government and originally called the Open Learning Institute of Hong Kong, HKMU got its new name in 2021 to better show its connection with the community. HKMU is dedicated to teaching and research that meet the needs of Hong Kong and the surrounding region. The university has seven schools with more than 160 academic programs and gets lots of funding for research.
