Md. Enamul Hasan from Bangladesh is thankful to the Chinese Government for nominating him as a bilateral candidate to pursue his MSc in Management at Xiamen University (XMU). Today, Enamul works as a full-time Graduate Teaching Assistant at XMU.
Studying at XMU has been life-changing for Enamul, but he admits he had concerns at first. Read his inspiring story of success, his deep appreciation of China and how he is living the dream in a foreign country that he now calls home.

My journey at Xiamen University started in September 2018. I was nominated by the Ministry of Education and Chinese Embassy in Bangladesh as a bilateral candidate to pursue my Master’s in Management Science (Accounting).
Before arriving here, I was really concerned about the culture, food and overall life here in China. For me, it took very little time to get used to this new life. Since then I am enjoying my life here at Xiamen University.
The main advantage of living and studying abroad is experiencing cultural diversity, meeting new people, knowing more about a different country and culture and more. The education system here is quite different from what I had in my country. In my earlier days, I struggled a lot but through time, with the help of the faculty and fellow classmates, I managed to achieve good scores in my courses.
Apart from my studies, I participated in different activities at Xiamen University. It started with the Ambassador Program that was introduced by the Admissions Office of Xiamen University. I found myself lucky enough to be a part of it and I traveled to my country for promotional activities. It was really a great experience as I got the chance to interact with more people and share the opportunities of studying at XMU.
As an international student at the Institute for Financial and Accounting Studies (IFAS), I always found my teachers and classmates very friendly. I got the privilege to participate in different programs one of many was as the host of graduation dinner of 2018 batch in May 2019. It was a great event organized by IFAS. It was an excellent gathering of all the faculties and graduating students.
Another experience that I think I should share is the summer camp of IFAS for prospective students. I participated in that program as a volunteer. It was another great experience for me to interact with new people and help them in their activities as well as sharing my own experience with the IFAS family.
By and large, I am enjoying my life here in Xiamen University from the first few days. For sure, my experiences will be helpful in the future. I will miss the atmosphere, friends, and this life. I would like to contribute to this university to any extent in the future. I am really thankful for the Chinese Government for providing such an opportunity.
