There are a few Chinese Universities with similar English names
This year there were some students who were confused and applied to the wrong University by accident.
Here are the Universities that students are most confused by. Take extra care when applying to one of these Universities.
University of Science and Technology
Often students get confused with Universities which have similar names. In many cities there are Universities of Technology and of Science and Technology such as
– Zhejiang University of Science and Technology, and
– Zhejiang University of Technology or sometimes even
– Zhejiang University
There are a number of Universities of Science and Technology
University of Science and Technology, Beijing
University for Science and Technology, Beijing
University of Science and Technology
This is in Hefei, Anhui province
Actually the Chinese names are very different. The first one is the highest ranked (University of Science and Technology, Beijing is also known as USTB).
Jinan University Vs University of Jinan
Another case is Jinan University, and University of Jinan, which are in different cities and on the other side of the country.
University of Jinan, in Shandong
Jinan University is located in Guangzhou
There is also another Jinan University which is in Lebanon
