Dear students,
Happy New Year! But the celebrations aren’t over yet. Did you know the Chinese New Year, or Lunar New Year, is coming up soon?
In 2022, the Lunar New Year is celebrated across Asia and the world on February 1, 2022. The Lunar Year 2022 will be the year of the tiger.
Closures on the Chinese New Year
China has a public holiday from January 31st to February 6th this year. During this week, many businesses and companies in China will be closed.
When are universities closed for Chinese New Year? The Chinese New Year is a long winter break for Chinese students and universities. Most universities will be closed for 4-6 weeks over the Chinese New Year holiday. You cannot contact universities during this time.
For example, Peking University is on a break from January 17, 2022 to the end of February. The Chinese University of Hong Kong is closed from January 24 to February 11, 2022.
If you have application questions and communications that need to be completed in January, you need to get these done as soon as possible before the middle of January.
Universities will not be online to process your applications over the Chinese New Year holiday. China Admissions will still be here to answer questions.
Please prepare your documents and deadlines accordingly. Have a happy Lunar New Year!
