Qingdao is a beautiful seaside city located in Shandong province. With the Yellow Sea on both sides, Qingdao has the largest bathing beach across Asia. Qingdao was once a German colony, and the city has successfully preserved the European style architecture. For this reason, it has earned the name of the “Orient Switzerland”, a sight rarely seen across China. Qingdao takes pride in its red roofs, lush greens, blue seas and azure skies, a colorful view that does not disappoint. The weather in Qingdao is pleasant all year round.
As a seaside city, Qingdao has numerous attractions such as white sandy beaches, resorts and mountain parks. The city has an old town area where you can see scenic spots and diverse seafood cuisines. The world famous Tsingtao beer produced in 1903 is also worth tasting.
Qingdao is not as big as Shanghai and Beijing, but it’s a modern metropolis with towering skyscrapers and high-tech transportation system. There are direct flights, bullet trains, buses and ships. You can go around the city through public buses, taxis, ferryboats, and metros.
The official language of Qingdao is Mandarin Chinese, but many people can speak English because of Western influence. Some of its most renowned universities include Qingdao University, Qingdao University of Science and Technology and Qingdao Technological University.
