Hangzhou is a city located on the east coast of China in the south of the Yangtze River Delta. It is one hour away from Shanghai and 1½ hours from Suzhou by bullet train.

Hangzhou is the capital of Zhejiang Province. It is the political, economic, cultural, educational, transportation, and financial center of the province. Hangzhou is often called ‘Heaven on Earth’ because of its natural beauty and rich culture and history.

Italian merchant and world explorer Marco Polo called Hangzhou “the finest and most splendid city in the world”. The subtropical monsoon climate in Hangzhou contributes to seasonal scenery, making the city one of the top tourist destinations in the country.

Hangzhou is one of the Seven Ancient Capital Cities, with a history dating back 2,500 years. Its most renowned landmarks include the West Lake, the Grand Canal, Dragon Well Tea and old water towns. Dongpo pork, Beggar’s chicken, fried shrimps with Longjing tea, and West Lake fish are among the most popular dishes of Hangzhou.

Hangzhou is easily accessible by high-speed trains and flights from main Chinese cities. There is a wealth of shopping malls, tea houses, various restaurants and bars in the city area.
