About the Guest Speakers

James Ashcroft

Chief Talent Officer

A dual UK-US citizen, James is a graduate of University College London (BA History) and The Yenching Academy of Peking University (MA China Studies). Prior to joining AppInChina as Chief Talent Officer, he worked as a management consultant at Deloitte in London and in monetization at ByteDance here in Beijing.

Yixuan Heather Li

Founder, PR + Business Consultant, The Dot Connector

Yixuan Heather Li is a China-based PR & communications consultant focus on cross-border tech and China-Africa Relations. Originally from Beijing, she previously graduated from Penn State University with a dual degree in Public Relations and Political Science. She’s the Founder of The Dot Connector, a PR initiative focusing on re-branding Africa’s image in China as well as a co-founder for China Digital Talents, a platform focusing on connecting job opportunities and talents in the digital industry.

Petros Djakouris

Co-Founder & Curator, BeHive
Petros Djakouris is the Co-Founder and Curator of BeHive. Petros consults companies and organizations in the fields of corporate training, community building, and marketing. He designs and facilitates training programs for organizations such as the United Nations, Volkswagen, Pirelli, and Peking University, in topics such as WeChat Marketing, Intercultural Communication, Community Management, and Design Thinking.

As an avid supporter of youth empowerment and talent development, he started BeHive, an organization that provides affordable career and entrepreneurial training to international talent in Beijing and Shanghai through in-person and virtual events. Petros speaks fluent Mandarin Chinese and collaborates with the world’s top organizations in the fields of Talent Development, Innovation, and Youth Empowerment.

Shirley Villegas

Overseas Digital Marketing Manager, POP MART

Shirley Villegas is the Overseas Digital Marketing Manager of POP MART in Beijing, China. Before that, she was a Market Research and Business Development Analyst of Quimica Suiza, which is based in Chorrillos, Lima, Pere, for more than 3 years. She finished the IMBA program at Guanghua School of Management, Peking University last 2020.

Marina Cao

Talent Acquisition Consultant Leader (Beijing Team), HelloCareer

Marina Cao is the Talent Acquisition Consultant Leader (Beijing Team) of HelloCareer, who has rich experiences in international RPO projects in various industries. Responsible for about 80 positions from over 30 companies which includes junior, middle-level, and senior positions in advertising, PR, F&B, retail, IT consulting, education, fitness, real estate, farming fields, etc. Fully passionate about human resource management. Marina Cao received her Master’s degree in Human Resource Management at the University of Liverpool, in Liverpool, England, last 2016.

 

Jonathan Lopez

Schwarzman Scholar at Tsinghua University

Jonathan Lopez works in Strategy for TikTok Latin America at ByteDance. He’s graduated with a Master’s degree in Business from Tsinghua University as a Schwarzman Scholar and a Bachelor’s degree in International Development and Social Entrepreneurship from McGill University. He’s a dual citizen of Colombia and Canada and is based in Beijing, China.

Hiruy Ephrem

Hiruy Ephrem

Analyst, SOSV, Chinaccelerator

Hiruy is an Analyst at Chinaccelerator and MOX. Responsibilities include portfolio management and deal sourcing.

Prior to SOSV, Hiruy was the Program Manager for Angelvest Group in Shanghai, China. Angelvest is a network of angel investors primarily based in Asia; and as the Program Manager, Hiruy was responsible for deal sourcing, research, member relations, and marketing. Before coming to Angelvest, Hiruy had multiple internships abroad from Coca-Cola Sabco in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia to Beijing Niu Technologies in Beijing, China. In his free time, Hiruy enjoys performing stand-up comedy at various locations in Shanghai and trying out new social activities around the city.
