Mr. Zhiwan CHEUNG
Assistant Professor, Media Arts, and Design

Zhiwan Cheung (b. Long Beach, CA) received his BFA from Cornell University and his MFA from Carnegie Mellon University. Zhiwan first got a taste of performing in front of a camera as a book reviewer for Reading Rainbow, the 1990’s television show advocating reading for children. Since then, Zhiwan has to use his work to search for a critical understanding of an impossible homecoming, an odyssey toward a home that does not exist, a rite of passage with no destination. Zhiwan has exhibited work both nationally and internationally in venues such as NURTUREart in New York, Pica Pica Gallery in Berlin, and The Andy Warhol Museum in Pittsburgh. Currently, Zhiwan is an Assistant Professor at the United International College in Zhuhai, China.

Mr. Andrew PEAT
Associate Professor, Cinema and Television

Andrew graduated with honours from the University of California, Davis, earning certificates of excellence from both the English and History departments, and studied a full year of History as an exchange fellow at Scotland’s oldest institution, University of St Andrews. He earned a Master of Fine Arts in Film and TV Production from the USC School of Cinematic Arts, while gaining experience in various areas of film production working on over 50 films (shorts and features). He has focused on directing, scriptwriting, sound editing and design, Foley, ADR, as well as the final mix. Andrew started teaching at UIC from September 2015.

Dr. Purrie NG
Programme Director / Associate Professor, Cultural and Creativity Management

Dr. Purrie NG first practiced as an interior designer in residential and commercial projects and as a set designer in Radio Television Hong Kong. Then she joined the Curriculum Development Institute (Visual Arts) of Education and Manpower Bureau as Project Coordinator in curriculum design and teaching materials. Later she attained substantial experience in teaching, exhibition, programme management and revalidation, dissertation guidance and curriculum planning in various colleges.

Dr. Xi WANG
Assistant Professor, Cultural and Creativity Management

Dr. Wolfgang Xi WANG is an assistant professor in CCM. He received a Ph.D. in hospitality management at Iowa State University, and an M.S. in management and marketing at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. With research expertise in big data analysis, marketing, and consumer behavior of the hospitality industry, Dr. Wang has developed and published numbers of academic papers in both top-tier journals, professional conferences, and international projects, and was invited as ad-hoc reviewer for several journals. Dr. Wang got many professional certifications in the hospitality and tourism industry, including Certified Hospitality Educator (CHE®) and Certification in Hotel Industry Analytics (CHIA). Dr. Wang has more than 2 years’ teaching and researching experience in the US, and more than 3 years’ experience in the industry.

About UIC Division of Culture and Creativity
