Enhancing the International Student Experience at XJTLU

In our continuous effort to extend a warm welcome to our international students and enhance their overall experience, X-Global successfully mobilized a dedicated team of volunteers and staff members who wholeheartedly assisted them in acclimating to their new environment.

1) Airport Pick-up

Between August 28th and 31st, our team, accompanied by student volunteers, warmly greeted arriving students at both Pudong Airport and Hongqiao Airport in Shanghai. Additionally, XJTLU arranged two daily complimentary shuttle buses to conveniently transport students to their designated accommodations. Upon arrival, our team members, including our knowledgeable staff and enthusiastic volunteers, were readily available to address any concerns or issues encountered during the check-in process.

2) Accommodation Check In and Health Check

Once our international students had settled into their accommodations, our diligent team facilitated their on-site registration for four consecutive days, starting the day after their arrival. On registration day, we provided step-by-step guidance, ensuring that students understand the tasks they should complete upon their arrivals.

From August 30th onwards, our committed staff and volunteers woke up early each morning, eagerly awaiting students at their respective dormitories. They then escorted them to the designated health check centers, ensuring that all necessary examination procedures were completed promptly.

3) On-Site Registration

During the on-campus registration process, we took the opportunity to conduct random interviews with several international students, delving into their motivations for choosing XJTLU as their study destination. Let’s explore their insightful responses below:
“The beautiful campus and state-of-the-art facilities at XJTLU were major factors in my decision to study here. Also, I chose XJTLU because of its strong academic reputation and I believe the teachers can provide me with qualified education.”

“One of the main reasons I was drawn to this university is its exceptional study abroad program. I really value the opportunity to expand my academic horizons and experience different cultures. For instance, I’m particularly excited about the prospect of selecting a study program that allows me to pursue further studies in England.”

“The reason why I chose to study at XJTLU is because Suzhou is a great city, and XJTLU is a university with a strong international atmosphere. I found XJTLU through my own online research, and I was confident in my decision to study here. I even recommended a few of my Indonesian classmates to come and study here as well.”

4) Workshop and Induction

On September 1st, X-Global organized an informative “Residence Permit Application Workshop” exclusively for our international students. This workshop was designed to assist students in accurately completing the necessary survey questions, thereby ensuring the precise submission of data. Furthermore, our staff provided valuable support by accompanying students to the relevant bureaus, where they submitted their residence permit application forms.

On September 5th, the highly engaging “International Student Global Information Session” was conducted by the X-Global Engagement Team. This session provided students with invaluable insights on how to seamlessly navigate their time at XJTLU and achieve optimal success. Key topics covered include essential academic dates, available services, support networks, resources provided by XJTLU, and effective strategies for adapting swiftly to their new environment.

This year, we are thrilled to witness a growing number of international students choosing XJTLU, which is a testament to the quality of education and accomplishments we offer. As evidenced by our data analysis, the “International Business with a Language”, “Business Administration”, “Marketing”, “Media and Communication Studies” programmes had emerged as the sought-after choices among international students, with Indonesia contributing the largest number of enrolled students. This year, our enrollment of international students showcases a remarkable diversity, with representation from 25 different countries across the globe. We are proud of this diversity and look forward to welcoming more students from all around the world.

At XJTLU, we are dedicated to providing a supportive and enriching environment that fosters academic growth, cultural exchange, and personal development. We encourage you to explore the countless opportunities available at XJTLU and to embark on a rewarding educational journey with us. Best wishes for your future studies, and we eagerly await your application and arrival at XJTLU!
