3 Tips to Find a Job and Get a Work Visa in China

As China’s economy continues to develop rapidly and more international talents are seeking to come to China in order to build their careers.

We have been through this process in China Admissions as we build our team, and also advised international students.

In order to find a job in China, you will need to find a company that will hire you, and sponsor your work visa application. When applying for a work visa, you will be assessed according to how qualified you are for this job. Why should you be hired?

There are already a lot of talented people already in China with a lot of skills, so you will need to demonstrate that you are very well matched for this role and will be successful.

Normally you will need to have graduated with a bachelor’s and have two years of work experience.

Here are 3 top tips for you.

1 – Tip: Get a Master’s Degree in China

China has implemented preferential policies for students who have graduated from top Chinese Universities with a master’s degree. If you have studied a master’s degree in China it will be easier to apply for the work visa. You can search for master’s programs here.

2 – Choose a subject related to your preferred career

When you apply for the work visa, it is very important that the program you have studied is related to the role. For example if you studied Petroleum or Civil Engineering and you want to apply for a marketing job, then you might not be so relevant and it might be harder to apply.

For this reason It would be better to apply for a program that is related to the job you want. If you are not sure which job you would like to go into, it might be better to choose something that is more general and can be useful across a wide variety of industries. For example – business administration, management, marketing, or computer science, are skills that would be useful in most industries. You can search subjects like that here.

3 – Learn Chinese

Investing as much time as possible to learn Chinese will hugely impact your prospects for your career in China. It may go without saying that it will give you a larger number of opportunities. You can search programs to learn Chinese here.

You will also have advantages if you have very high scores for your programs, and also relevant work experience / internships.

We strongly recommend if you are looking for a career in China that you can come to a university first. You will be able to learn Chinese, build up connections and find opportunities in China.
