Bachelor’s Computer Science & Technology

By the time they finish this course, students will be well equipped to work in computer science or pursue postgraduate studies in China or abroad. The program offers a broad-based education so that students are able to work for both private and public organisations in Mainland China, Hong Kong, or for foreign firms. 

Major units on this course include Data Structures and Algorithms, Data Communications and Networking, Operating Systems, Machine Learning and Software Engineering. There are also elective modules that include Introduction To Robotics, Design Patterns, Cloud Computing, Mobile Computing and Computer Graphics. 

Bachelor’s in Artificial Intelligence

The Artificial Intelligence Programme equips students with modern, innovative, real world knowledge that enables them to join this thriving workforce. The programme is designed to give students a foundation in computer science and AI to build their understanding of AI applications on, as well as give a deep AI technology education, encourage mathematical thinking, and teach students how to formulate appropriate AI models for solving real-life problems.

There are two available pathways: AI in Business and Finance Concentration and AI in Multimedia Concentration.

AI in Business and Finance Concentration teaches students how to use artificial intelligence to  solve business and financial problems. Students will learn how to apply various AI technologies to financial matters, integrating skills like data mining and AI finance engineering. Modules include Fintech, Pattern Recognition, Game Theory and Decision Theory.

AI in Multimedia Concentration covers artificial intelligence’s role in solving multimedia problems, such as speech, image recognition, and multimedia mining. The course includes Speech Processing and Recognition, Digital Image Processing, Natural Language Processing, Computer Vision, Multimedia Mining and Analytics and Design and Implementation of Intelligent Vision System.

Both pathways require the completion of the core modules of which there are 7 spanning 21 units.

Bachelor’s in Applied Psychology

The UIC Applied Psychology Programme (APSY) gives students an advanced education spanning 4 years in the science of psychology.  This course also gives access to national and international training practices and internships, as well as access to independent research opportunities. 

A broad range of core modules allow students to form a solid foundation to which they can build on using elective modules. Core modules include Research Methods, Theories of Learning, Abnormal Psychology, Perception and Health Psychology. All students should complete 37 units of University Core courses to fulfil the graduation requirements. Electives include Counselling Psychology, Psychology of The Chinese People, Neuroimaging in Psychology, and Cognitive Neuroscience.

Business Faculty Overview  

The largest faculty of UIC, the business faculty offers innovative, modern and exciting programs including accounting, finance, applied economics, human resources, marketing, business analytics and much more. Qualifications include BBA, BCom, MA, BBA, and PHD. 

The department has over 3,200 undergraduate students, over 200 postgraduate students, and over 100 teaching faculty members

Culture and Creativity Faculty Overview

The School of Culture and Creativity offers a multidisciplinary approach to the studies of media, culture, design and creative industries. You can study for a Bachelor of Communication (Honours) in Animation and Interactive Media, the Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Cinema and Television, the Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Music Performance, Master of Arts in communication – Film TV & New Media Concentration, or one of many other courses.

Humanities and Social Sciences Faculty Overview

Students who undertake a degree from the Humanities and Social sciences department of UIC are highly employable and sought after by employers. Courses include  Applied Translation Studies (ATS); Chinese Culture and Global Communication (CCGC); Globalisation and Development (GAD); Media and Communication Studies (MCOM) and Public Relations and Advertising (PRA). 

Science and Technology Faculty Overview

The Faculty of Science and Technology offers students 9 exciting Honours Degree Programmes that include Applied Mathematics, Applied Psychology, Data Science, Environmental Science, Food Science and Technology, and Statistics. The Faculty has over 100 teaching faculty members who seek to use their expertise to help students achieve their goals through all-around development through social consciousness and self-cultivation.

General Education Faculty Overview 

The School of General Education (SGE) was founded in September 2022, and is coordinated through four centres: General Education Coordination Centre (GECC), Whole Person Education Centre (WPEC), English Language Centre (ELC) and Chinese Language and Culture Centre (CLCC). Each centre offers a different range of courses. For example, the WPEC offers courses in Sports Culture, Environmental Awareness, Emotional Intelligence and Voluntary Service, amongst others. Whereas ELC offers courses across a range of English language skill development, and similarly CLCC explores Chinese language and culture through courses such as ‘Contemporary World and China’.
