Beijing Normal University-Hong Kong Baptist University (BNBU) is now accepting applications for the 2026 intake. If you haven’t heard of BNBU before, it’s a joint venture between two well-established universities: Beijing Normal University and Hong Kong Baptist University.
All undergraduate programmes are taught entirely in English, and the campus is located in Zhuhai, a coastal city just next to Hong Kong and Macau.
This year, BNBU has announced a limited number of full-tuition Early-Bird Scholarships. If you’re planning to study in China, this could be your chance to secure significant funding for your undergraduate degree.
About Beijing Normal-Hong Kong Baptist University (BNBU)

Beijing Normal-Hong Kong Baptist University (BNBU) is a pioneering institution established in 2005 as the first full-scale collaboration in higher education between the Chinese mainland and Hong Kong. Located in Zhuhai City within the vibrant Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, BNBU is renowned for being the first modern college in mainland China to uphold a liberal arts education.
What Can You Study at BNBU?
BNBU offers a range of internationally recognized programmes taught entirely in English. Whether you’re interested in technology, psychology, or science, the university provides programmes that combine international academic standards with access to China’s dynamic market.
Here are some of programmes that have been popular among international students:
Artificial Intelligence – Dive into one of the fastest-growing fields in technology. BNBU’s AI programme prepares you for careers in machine learning, data science, and intelligent systems development.
Computer Science and Technology – Build strong foundations in programming, software engineering, and computer systems. Graduates from this programme work at tech companies across China and internationally.

Early-Bird Scholarships for 2026 Intake
BNBU offers several scholarship levels based on your academic performance for the first year of tuition. These are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis, so applying early matters if you want to be considered.
Here’s what’s available:
- Full Scholarship: 110,000 RMB (~15,120 USD) – This covers your entire annual tuition
- 50% Scholarship: 55,000 RMB (~7,560 USD)
- 30% Scholarship: 33,000 RMB (~4,540 USD)
- Government Scholarship: 10,000 RMB (~1,370 USD)
Who qualifies:
- Full Scholarship: You need an average score of 86–100 (Grade A/A+)
- 50% Scholarship: Average score of 80–85 (Grade B+)
- 30% Scholarship: Average score of 76–79 (Grade B)
The university makes final decisions on all scholarships. Because they’re distributed first-come, first-served, waiting too long to apply could mean missing out even if you meet the requirements.
What’s It Like to Study at BNBU?
Location matters when you’re choosing where to study. BNBU’s campus is in Zhuhai, which sits right next to Hong Kong and Macau. This means you’re close to major business hubs while living in a city with beaches and a more relaxed pace than Beijing or Shanghai.
Since all programmes are taught in English, you don’t need to be fluent in Chinese to study here. That said, there are still opportunities to learn Chinese or you might need to learn, which is helpful to your everyday life in China and practical if you’re planning to work in China if you’re going to stay after graduation. Many students find that knowing some Chinese makes daily life easier and opens up more opportunities during their time there.
The campus itself has modern facilities, and because it’s a coastal city, the environment feels different from China’s massive inland cities. Some students appreciate being able to explore both the international vibe of nearby Hong Kong and the local Chinese culture in Zhuhai.
BNBU holds international accreditation, which means your degree is recognized globally if you decide to work abroad or pursue graduate studies elsewhere.

“BNBU is a great place to be a student because it makes me feel included and welcomed right away. Not only are the staff and faculty very helpful, the students are friendly to a new face like mine. I also have great opportunities to explore new ideas and practice old hobbies and skills with the resources at BNBU. It is awesome to have BNBU to support and guide me at this important time of my life.”
– Shen Perry from the U.S.
