The LL.M Program in Chinese Business Law at Fudan University is a 2 year Master’s degree program taught in English.

About the Program

Since the fall of 2010, Fudan Law School has launched an English-instructed program – LL.M. in Chinese Business Law, especially for foreign lawyers, executives, students, and professionals engaging in international trade and/or interested in Chinese business and financial law.

Non-Chinese citizens, who have received a first college degree and have a good command of English, are eligible to apply for this program. LL.M. degree will be granted to the candidates who have successfully completed the required courses and a thesis.

Each LL.M. student must complete 30 credits during two-semester course study in the first year. Generally, the fall semester lasts from late August through December, and the spring semester from late February through June. After completing the course study, students need submit a graduation thesis and pass the oral defense up to four years since the enrollment in order to receive the degree. Students may complete the thesis at Fudan or at any other place as long as they will be present for the oral defense. Students who have successfully completed one or two semesters’ course work but decide not to write the thesis will instead receive a certificate.

Each LL.M. student will be assigned an academic advisor for study and thesis writing. In addition, Fudan Law School will arrange regular academic and extra-curricular activities for both foreign students and Chinese students so that they may interact with each other.

Entry Requirements

Each eligible applicants must be a non-Chinese citizen with a valid passport, in good health, holding a bachelor’s degree and meeting the English language requirements.

Applicants whose native language is not English must prove their English proficiency, e.g., possessing a TOEFL (iBT) score of 90 or above / an IELTS score of 6.5 or above.

Applicants who have successfully completed a bachelor’s degree or master’s degree taught in English in a majority native English speaking country, will not normally need to provide TOEFL or IELTS score.

Tuition Fees

The tuition fees are RMB80000 per year. The total for the 2 year program is 160,000 RMB. Students need to pay half the tuition (80,000 yuan) before the beginning of the first fall semester, and the other half before the beginning of the first spring semester.
