About the Program

This program is developed to provide students with a good understanding of legal knowledge across a broad spectrum of legal issues in a global context. In this degree, students will also learn the language and history of China. They will have an opportunity to immerse themselves in Chinese culture and will learn the role of law as well as politics and business in contemporary China. The program is thus designed for students to sharpen their knowledge and understanding of international legal acumen and to improve their skills in cross-culture communication. This international outlook will help students to start a career without boundaries after their graduation. The program is ideal for those who would be interested in pursuing a career in an international arena, allowing graduates to work in the fields of law at both the domestic and international levels.

About the School of Law

Zhejiang Gongshang University School of Law is recognized as the major institution to train legal professionals in the province.

Zhejiang Gongshang University School of Law was one of the very first schools providing legal education in Zhejiang Province. Its predecessor, Politics and Law College of Zhejiang Province, was first established in 1979. The school has been granted by the Ministry of Education of China to offer Master of Law Programs (LL.M.) and Juris Master Programs (J.M.). The School started recruiting international students in 2009. At present, the School offers master degrees in seven legal fields including Jurisprudence, Constitutional Law and Administrative Law, Civil Law and Business Law, Criminal Law, Criminal and civil Procedures Law, Economics Law, and International Law. Currently the School has over 1200 undergraduate students and 500 graduate students. In 2012, the School was selected by the Ministry of Education as one of sixty educational bases that educate outstanding practice-ready legal talents for the society from nearly seven hundred law schools nationwide.

The School has 78 full-time faculty members, among whom 14 are full professors, and 38 associate professors. Twenty faculty members have experiences of studying abroad or visiting overseas law schools;ten of them obtained their doctorate or master degrees from noble universities in U.S, Canada, U.K, Australia, and Japan. The School has national known scholars in their own research areas such as Procedures law, International Law and Civil and Business Laws; and the whole faculty team is recognized as leading scholars and teachers within the province. The School has engaged a number of foreign law professors and scholars from U.S and U.K as our guest professors who teach courses on foreign laws or comparative law or give lectures for our students each year.

The School attaches great importance to international exchange, and has developed close collaboration with universities and institutions in U.S., Netherland, and Korea and other countries. In 2006-2012, the School joined partnership program named “Legal Clinic and Advocacy Education” led by University of the Pacific McGeorge School of Law and American University Washington School of Law. This program was funded by U.S. Agency for International Development. Over twenty professors from Zhejiang Gongshang University School of Law participated in this program, and thus had opportunity to expose themselves to the core idea of American legal experiential education “Learning by Doing” and multiple effective teaching methods. This program has enhanced schools’ mission in better educating outstanding practice-ready legal professionals. In addition, each year our students have opportunity to go abroad and study as exchange students or pursue their further degrees.

  2. Education Background Requirements:
    – Applicants for bachelor’s degree studies must have high school certificate;
  3. English language proficiency requirements:
    Applicants (except for English native speakers) must have TOEFL test or IELTS test or have other English language proficiency.

Tuition Fees

The tuition fees are RMB 18000 per year. The total for the 4 year program is 72,000 RMB.
