Chinese Language Summer School (2 Weeks)
Introduction to the Program
The Chinese Language Summer School at XJTLU is a two week program for international students.
About XJTLU Language Centre
The Language Centre was established in 2006, the year Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University was founded. It has grown rapidly since and currently has more than 100 administrative and teaching staff members, who have experience of teaching English, Chinese and Spanish at top universities and institutes around the world.
We provide English for Academic Purposes teaching on degree modules, first-rate English language support across all years of study, offer Chinese and Spanish language programmes, as well as professional teacher training for teachers inside and from outside of XJTLU.

As part of our unique model of instruction there are five study levels and you will be enrolled into the appropriate level for your needs. All four language skills (reading, writing, listening and speaking) will be taught with a focus on useable, everyday language that you might expect to use if you are visiting, living, working or travelling in China.
Classes will take place Monday to Friday, lesson one: 10am to 12pm and lesson two: 1 to 2pm. Each week will be comprised of 15 hours of classroom-based language lessons and four hours of cultural understanding lessons. There will be plenty of opportunity to use the language you are learning on the street and in social situations.
We offer a 40 percent discount on the fees above to certain types of students:
- Students who are already studying at XJTLU
- Anyone who has attended the Chinese Language Summer School before and would like to come back and further develop their Chinese language skills
- Those who will start an undergraduate or postgraduate degree at XJTLU in September 2017
- University of Liverpool students, including those who are coming to XJTLU on the Year in China programme.
The accommodation facilities are located within the Dushu Lake Science and Education Innovation District, where the University is situated. All accommodation within this area is private and managed by the Suzhou Industrial Park Education Development & Investment Limited Company (SIPEDI), and also provides to students studying at other institutions.
