Introduction to the Program

The Master’s Degree in Logistics Management at the School of International Trade and Economics at the University of International Business and Economics (UIBE) is a one year program taught in English. Students can start the program in September or March each year.

Entry Requirements


An applicant must have completed or be in the final year of completing a four year or honours degree in an undergraduate program.

Students also need to be proficient in English with one of the following: TOEFL iBT (internet based) result of at least 86 points: TOEFL (computer based) test result of at least 213 points: TOEFL (paper based) test result of at least 550 points: IELTS test result of 6.0 with a minimum of 6.0 in each score band. This requirement does not apply to an applicant who has studied for at least two years at or received a degree from a college or university with the instruction language in English.

Students also need to demonstrate that they possess the necessary learning ability to succeed in the program. For instance, work experience, or extra-curricula activities and achievements.




Application Deadline


The application deadline is June 30th each year for September intake and November 30th for February/March intake.




Period of Study


The University divides an academic year into two semesters. On average, each semester consists of eighteen weeks. The first semester of the academic year, from the beginning of September to January, is called the Fall Semester. The second semester of the academic year, from the beginning of March to the end of June, is called the Spring Semester. The School doesn’t provide any course in summer. The prescribed schedule of the Fall and Spring semester are specified in the University Calendar.

The normal length of study for the Master program is two academic years. The maximum time for completion of a master's degree is three years. This time limit is counted from the time that the students enter the graduate program regardless of any leave of absence taken.



Curriculum

Each student in this program must complete 37 graduate credits of course work: 12 credits in four core courses, 5 credits of two field courses and 20 credits of elective courses, or a combination of a research essay and 14 credits of approved courses. The core courses include LM501 Business Logistics (3 credits), LM502 Supply Chain Management (3 credits), LM503 Operations Management (3 credits), LM504 Logistics practice in China (3 credits) and 5 credits of two field courses. There is no thesis requirement for the program. However, students can choose to complete a thesis, which is equivalent to 6 credits of elective courses. A thesis advisor will be appointed for each student who intends to write a thesis. The thesis should be related to the student’s major area of study and focused on the Chinese aspects of the field. Students who complete all required course work with grades above 60 on a 100 scale will receive a Master’s degree in Logistics Management. Students who finish only part of required course work may be issued a course certificate.

Field Courses – (in the spring semester)
 o Quantitative analysis in logistics management (3 credits)
 o International Logistics (3 credits) 
 o Warehousing Management (2 credits)
 o Topics on Chinese logistics (2 credits)

Elective Courses (in all semesters)
 o Elective courses (20 credits) 

Free Chinese Mandarin Courses are available to all students.

Tuition Fees:

The tuition fee is 99,160 RMB for the one year program. Tuition can be paid in full at the start at the beginning of the fall semester or 50% can be paid at the the start of the first semester and the rest can be paid at the beginning of the second semester.

Tuition fees of re-take courses and any additional courses taken are charged on a credit basis, and these are 2,680 RMB per credit.

Note: After students applied and were accepted they have to pay advanced payment: 10000RMB. Once the payment has been paid the official admissions letter and visa form will be sent to the student.

Calculating Your Expenses:

You should expect to budget about 169,160 RMB for an academic year.

Tuition fees: 99,160 RMB
On campus accommodation: 28,000 RMB
Off campus accommodation: 30,000 RMB
Books and supplies and living etc: 12,000 RMB

Careers and Internships

UIBE places great importance on helping students to find work experience and career opportunities. UIBE was the first University in China to establish an advisory service for international students to help students to get a job and there are a number of opportunities for students to take internships while they are studying and to find a job afterwards. The location of UIBE is close to the CBD of Beijing and the international companies and job opportunities there. There are also some companies that have moved their location to be close to UIBE campus and the students. This is a unique advantage of UIBE compared to other Universities.
