About Soochow University

Soochow University is located in the ancient town of Suzhou, also called “Paradise on Earth”. The university is part of the national “211 Project” and is a “2011 Plan” university. It is also one of the Jiangsu provincial key comprehensive universities. It has grown from the former Soochow University founded in 1900.

About the Program

Different courses are offered each semester for every level including basic, beginner, intermediate, and advanced courses. Students who have never learned Chinese before can attend basic courses. Those who have studied Chinese before will take an exam and be placed to different classes respectively. Students will have classes from Monday to Friday and will be free on Saturday and Sunday. Students will have 16 to 20 classes for compulsory courses each week. The college also provides about ten optional courses. Students who obey the regulations, attend classes and pass the exams will be given a course-completion certificate.
