Traditional Chinese Medicine (Acupuncture) is 5 academic years program, with 3 trimesters in each year, for international students taught in English.

About the SHUTCM

Established in 1956, the Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine (SHUTCM) was one of the first four TCM colleges across China. The University is located within the Zhangjiang Hi-Tech Park and Shanghai Free Trade Zone. Today, the University alumni are living in over 100 countries or territories. Jointly supported by the Ministry of Education and Shanghai Municipal Government, the University is included in the construction projects for national “First-Class Discipline” and High-Level Universities in Shanghai. SHUTCM has over 700 experts and professors, 3 academicians, 2 National Medical Master, 1 prestigious teacher of National Higher Education Institution, 76 mentors for the “National Workshop to Inherit Academic Experience of Senior Chinese Medical Doctors” and 64 municipal-celebrated TCM doctors. In 1999 and 2007, the University was twice awarded the “Excellence in Undergraduate Education” by the Ministry of Education.

There are 9 colleges, 5 departments, and centers, 8 directly affiliated hospital with more than 10,000 beds, 21 subsidiaries of collaborated research institutions, 18 research centers and 3 bases of Education Ministry in SHUTCM. The University owns 3 doctoral degrees of class-one disciplines, 24 doctoral degrees of class-two disciplines, 5 master degrees of class-one disciplines, 35 master degrees of class-two disciplines and 3 Post-doctoral Research Stations. In 2012 National Evaluation of Class-one disciplines, Materia Medica ranks first, Traditional Chinese Medicine ranks second, and Integrative Chinese and Western Medicine ranks third.

Entry Requirements

  • High school graduation or above
  • Requirements for the English language:
      • a) Studied courses taught in English language and transcripts required
      • b) >90 of TOEFL or >6 of IELTS (non-native English speakers)

Tuition Fees

The tuition fees for Traditional Chinese Medicine (Acupuncture) program are RMB 42,000 per year. The total for the 5-year program is 210,000 RMB.
