About Northwestern Polytechnical University
The Northwestern Polytechnical University (NPU) is a national key university found in the historic city of Xi’an – the cradle of Chinese civilization. About the English Language and Literature Program
The English Language and Literature course help you understand American and British linguistics and literature. It also has a stem which discusses Chinese language, history, and culture.
At the end of this program, you will have a broad understanding of English writing, postcolonial literature and film, and literary criticism. You will also learn about the evolution of the English language.
Public Courses: Chinese Language I, Chinese Language II and Brief Introduction of China.
Basic Theory Courses: Introduction to Literature, General Linguistics and Research Methods in Applied Linguistics.
Basic Specialized Courses: Sociolinguistics, Semantics, History of Translation Theory in the West in China, Pragmatics, An Introduction to Western Academic Ideological Trend in 20th Century, Overview of Western Culture, Selected Readings in British and American English and Selected Readings in Literary Criticism.
Specialized Courses: Translation Theories and Practice, Contrastive Linguistics, Cognitive Linguistics, Literary Translation Theories and Practice, Shakespeare’s Plays, English Sonnets and An Introduction to Text Translation.

The application deadline is May 15, 2019, and the class starts on September 2, 2019.

To apply, complete the application form and pay the application fee here. Applications take 4-6 weeks before a decision is given, and students are accepted on a rolling basis.
