Introduction to NBU – Ningbo University
Located in the beautiful port city Ningbo, Ningbo University is a dynamic, young and comprehensive university with a wide range of disciplines. Established in 1986, with the first donation from Sir Yue-Kong Pao, it has been developed into one of the key institution of higher learning of Zhejiang Province.
About Ningbo University
The university focuses on the Research and Development and acquires various resources from the central, provincial and municipal governments. Its short-term goal is becoming a teaching and research orientated university.
Ningbo University has been attaching great attention to the development of international cooperation and exchanges. Up to now, the university has maintained close links and intercollegiate cooperation with almost 80 well-known institutions of higher education in more than 30 countries such as Purdue University (USA), Canberra University, Wollongong University (Australia), University of Montreal (Canada). Ningbo University collaborates various programs with these universities. More than 130 students are sent to overseas universities as exchange students every year.
Location
The university is located in the international modern port city-Ningbo. Ningbo lies in the East China Sea and south wing of Yangtze Delta Economic Zone. The port of Ningbo is the second largest in China and the sixth largest in the whole world, which has established the shipping linking with over 600 ports all over the world. It enjoys convenient transportation system. It only takes 2 hours driving to Shanghai and 2 hours flight to Beijing and Hong Kong. The fast growing export trade and energetic private economy bring Ningbo University great opportunities to collaborate with institutions, enterprises in domestic and overseas.
Campus
The university has five campuses, covering an area over 3000 acres, with a floor space totaling 790,000 square meters. The main campus, adjacent to Feng Hua Road in the north and Yongjiang River in the south, offers wide space for study and research with magnificent buildings and pleasant lawns and greenery. The university supplies a complete set of facilities and services for teaching, and research. Its libraries now have a CNKI Network Administration Service Center, and a collection of approximately 3,310,000 books. It has 8 affiliated hospitals and 8 hospitals for internship.
Internationalized Programs
Ningbo University offers various programs from Chinese Language to Humanities, Science and Engineering at both the undergraduate and postgraduate level. It offers special programs taught in English including Clinical Medicine, Mechanical Engineering, International Economics and Trade, Business Administration, International Finance, Fashion Design and Chinese Traditional Instruments at the Bachelor level, and MBA and Aquaculture at Master level. The English-taught programs make study easier, thus leaving more time for international students to improve Chinese language and discover the Chinese culture, economy and society.
Living in University
Participating in clubs and organizations on campus is an integral part of the higher education experience for international students. Through the involvement international students will have a chance to have a ton of fun, explore many opportunities, learn and practice valuable skills, exert a lasting impact on the campus, and gain a greater sense of home-belonging on campus.
Ningbo University provides international students the opportunities to join different clubs such as Chinese Kongfu, Painting and Calligraphy Club, Dancing Club, Cricket Club, Football Club, Badminton Club, Chess Club and Traditional Instruments etc.
The University offers high standard facilities for sports, such as Stadium, the halls for Basketball, Volleyball,Football, Badminton.
