The School of Journalism and Communication in Nanjing University, together with Collaborative Innovation Center of South China Sea Studies, offers the program of Master of Journalism and Communication(MJC) in “China-ASEAN culture and communication” to students from ASEAN countries.

Entry Requirements

1. ASEAN nationalities;

2. Students who will be graduating or who have graduated from college/government officials/media professionals/NGO staff;

3. Junior college degree or above;

4. Basic understanding of Chinese language and culture;

A minimum of 36 credits are required for graduation, including 32 credits of coursework (equivalent to 12 modules), 2 credits of internship, and 2 credits of thesis. The coursework is consisted of fundamentals (e.g. Communication in Intercultural Settings), core subjects (e.g. Comparative Media System and Global Media), applied subjects (e.g. Online and Mobile Journalism), and general electives (e.g. New Media Entrepreneurship).

Tuition Fees

The tuition fees are RMB 20,000 per year. The total for the 2 year program is RMB 40,000.


There are two campuses in Nanjing University: Gulou Campus which is located in downtown Nanjing and Xianlin Campus which is located 20 kilometers away from Gulou campus. All non-degree language students and some degree students are assigned to study in Gulou campus. For full information see the accommodation page here.
