The University of Nottingham Ningbo was founded in 2004 and is run by two institutions namely, The University of Nottingham and Zhejiang Wanli Education Group. It is located in Ningbo city, Zhejiang Province. It rests on 144 acres that features beautiful gardens and artwork.

The university has more than 750 staff members who perform a variety of services including teaching, research and other professional services. To ensure the quality of education remains world class, UNNC recruits its staff from top research institutions and top universities worldwide from approximately 40 countries. The teaching staff at UNNC is either appointed to the University of Nottingham standards or are seconded from Nottingham.
University Life at UNNC

Indoor facilities include a basketball court, Wushu room, squash courts, spin room, volleyball courts, fitness suite, gymnastics rooms, basketball court, table tennis room, weights room, billiards, badminton courts, climbing walls and taekwondo room.
Outdoor facilities include basketball courts, football pitch, running track (400m), tennis courts, badminton courts, skateboard ramp, volleyball courts, artificial 3G pitch and athletics field
The accommodation facilities at the institution are designed to make students comfortable during their stay and also have a good environment suitable for studying.
All the rooms are fully furnished and they are designed for single occupancy. However, students share a common room. The common rooms are equipped with a TV, fridge and a few cooking appliances among other things.
If you are student with excellent performance or have additional merit, then you are eligible for a scholarship. The scholarships can ease your economic burden of having to pay for all your academic fees. The University of Nottingham Ningbo offers scholarships to students at all levels including undergraduates, graduates and PhD students. The scholarships vary. They can be quarter, half or full scholarships.
Scholarships available for undergraduate students include:
Nottingham Global Scholarship
This scholarship can be full or partial. Partial scholarships can either be half or quarter. The scholarships pay RMB 90,000, RMB 45,000 or RMB 22,500 per student if it is a full, half or quarter scholarship respectively. Only entrance students can get this scholarship.
Application for the scholarship is not required. Once you apply for an undergraduate program, you will be considered for a scholarship if you have outstanding grades or something else that deems you worthy of the scholarship.
The deadlines for application of the scholarship are:
- 1st Round deadline: 23:59 CST, 20th January 2019
- 2nd Round deadline: 23:59 CST, 15th March 2019
- 3rd Round deadline: 23:59 CST, 15th May 2019
Ningbo Government Scholarship
This partial scholarship covers RMB 20,000 for students undertaking a full-time undergraduate degree. To get this scholarship, you need to apply for it and also send some required documents which include:
- Scholarship Application Form
- Course Application form and documents
- A 500-word personal statement
Students from all countries can apply for this scholarship. The deadlines for application is 31st May 2019.
Central and European Countries Scholarship
With this scholarship, students are awarded RMB 20,000 for their fee. Only full-time students are eligible for this undergraduate scholarship. However, not all students qualift for the scholarship. Eligible students are from Central and Eastern European countries. The scholarship is directly awarded in June of every year to students who meet all the requirements.
Ningbo Government Scholarship for Students from Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan
The scholarship is only available for students from Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan. If you qualify for this scholarship as a full-time undergraduate student, you will receive RMB 20,000 towards your tuition fee. To benefit from the scholarship, you need to apply for it. The requirements are as follows:

- Scholarship Application form
- A personal statement of 500 words
The deadline for application is 30th June 2019.
Nottingham Scholarships for Taiwan Students, JEE
Applicants to University of Nottingham Ningbo China are automatically considered for this scholarship hence they do not need to apply for it. The scholarship is awarded to students who apply to the university through JEE (Joint Entrance Examination). The amount offered to scholarship recipients is RMB 45,000 which covers half the tuition amount.
To be considered for the scholarship, you have to meet the following requirements:
- You must have studied in Mainland China
- You must have chosen UNNC as the first option in the JEE application system
- You must have attained a score of 150 or more above the line set by the MoE
If you miss the first round of selections, you will be considered in the next round.
This scholarship pays 10 percent of your fee if you have a relative (brother, sister, brother, child, husband or wife) who is currently registered on award winning courses or have completed an award winning course. The only requirement for you to get this scholarship is to present official documents that prove your relationship with the family member.
Applicants for a degree program, current degree students and exchange students can all apply for these scholarships.
Nottingham Alumni Scholarship
The scholarship pays for 15 percent of your tuition fee if you have previously studied at the University of Nottingham, UK, China or Malaysia. You are automatically considered for this scholarship provided you submit Degree Certificate that shows you graduate from the University of Nottingham.
Nottingham Family Scholarship

The scholarships pays for 10 percent of the total tuition fee. Eligible students are those who are under-21 alumni and have completed an undergraduate program and enrolled for a full-time master’s degree program in September 2019. The amount awarded to the recipient is RMB 90,000

Doctoral Training Partnership(DTP) scholarships at UNNC and CNITECH
The scholarship covers up to 36 months of the program. It covers tuition, accommodation, monthly stipend(RMB 3,500) and medical insurance.
You can send an application in March, June. September or December but preferably September. To increase your chances of receiving a scholarship, send the application 2 months earlier. The deadline for the June application is 15 March at 16:00 China Time.
Doctoral Training Partnership(DTP) scholarships at UNNC and IGSNRR
The length of the scholarship is 36 months. It covers tuition fee, a monthly stipend and medical insurance for selected hospitals. Application deadline for the September program is 14th June 2019 at 16:00 China Time.
Faculty scholarships are available for the following faculties:
- Faculty of Business
- Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences
- Faculty of Science and Engineering
The scholarship for the faculties cover 36 months of your program and they cover tuition fee, medical insurance and a monthly stipend (RMB 4,500). Application deadline is 15th March 2019 at 16:00 China Time.
Strategic Research Scholarships
The scholarship is for 2019 entry only. The scholarship supports research projects in the following themes:
- Belt and Road Initiative
- New Material Institute
- Intelligent Manufacturing
- Green Chemicals
All the scholarships supporting these themes cover your expenses for up to 36 months. The amount covers tuition, medical insurance and a monthly stipend of RMB 4,500.
Application deadline for the scholarships is 15th March 2019 at 16:00 China Time.
Nottingham Higher Flyer Scholarship
It is awarded to students who passed their undergraduate degree with First Class Honours from University of Nottingham in UK, China or Malaysia. It covers tuition fee, medical insurance and a monthly stipend of RMB 4,500.
Application deadline is 15th March 2019 at 16:00 China time.
Operations Management and Information Systems Scholarships
The scholarship is awarded to only one student. It covers medical insurance, tuition fee and a monthly stipend of RMB 3,000. It covers your studies up to 36 months.
