Coronavirus Update: Beijing getting back to a new normal – 30th March 2020

The situation in China has improved with no, or very few, new infections reported, except those returning from other countries. Planes to China have been reduced to once per week per country, and routed to other cities to do check-ups.

China has recently forbidden foreign visa holders from returning to China in order to stop a potential second wave.

Although there are still preventative measures in place, and you can see that, as a measure, subway traffic has reduced in the main cities in China. Beijing is currently at 16% this time last year.

But life in Beijing is starting to get back to a new normal, with shops, restaurants and opening up again and more people going outside.

Due to lower activity recently, the sky is quite fresh and it is spring in Beijing. We have been visiting some of the parks in Beijing. There are some nice parks in Beijing such as the Olympic park, and Xiangshan mountain in the west of Beijing which are open.

Here is a photo of the famous Sanlitun area, as more and more people start to go out.

Admissions Are Open!

Universities in China are still closed, but we are expecting them to open in the next month or two.
Admissions are open for September 2020, you can apply online, here, and let us know your application ID. We will check your application.

Scholarships for Sept 2020 Intake

Scholarship deadlines are coming up for September 2020 intake. The situation has changed rapidly, and China has recovered from the virus in 2 months. September is in 6 months, and the situation is likely to be very different in that time. Hopefully we have beaten the virus and things can get back to normal!

If things don’t come back to normal, we are expecting awarded scholarships to be postponed to the next intake, or you can study online. Applying for a scholarship might be an opportunity right now. In difficulty, comes opportunity.

We have more information about the scholarships for 2020 intake here. You can register for updates here:, and email to apply.

Even though we are apart physically, it doesn’t mean we can’t be together online, learn and grow together!

You can learn Chinese, and get ahead during this time.
