Best apps to move around in China


We all know Google maps. Famous, useful, good.

u=1902371218,844698766&fm=21&gp=0Well, in China you might find something even better, more famous and more useful. *Baidu mapsIt is perfect if you need to know where the closest bank is, the closest mobile phone store, or other places like the cinema, restaurants by cuisine, hotels and even tourist attractions.

It also helps to know which bus to use, which subway line is the closest, how much time it takes to go from one place to another. It’s more accurate but it’s in Chinese.

So there’s an app in Chinese – English which helps you with getting around using buses: PandaBus. The name of the stations are in Chinese, but still better than nothing.Img215018642

For subway you can use China Metro (here’s link for iPhonesapp, which has subway maps of 15 cities. Or you can download subway map of the city you are in:

  • Explore Shanghai
  • Metro Beijing Subway
  • Guangzhou Metro
  • Nanjing metro etc.

Every now and then there are times when you can’t find a cab, even in China, 6476016_4_thumbwhere are so many of them. When it happens, use UberDidiDache (滴滴打车) in northern China and Kuaide Dache (快的打车) in southern ChinaThe last two apps are also only in Chinese.

When you need to go to another city, you should thank the universe for China Train app, as it can save you from a lot of troubles.

To check flights or/and hotels it’s better to use Ctrip. Chinese version has not only hotels and flights, but also train information.
