About the International College at ZJU
The International College of Zhejiang University is a special teaching and administrative institute responsible for the enrollment, service and Chinese as Second Language (CSL) program, consisting of Office of General Affairs, Office of International Promotion of Chinese Language, Office of Degree Student Affairs, Office of CSL program, and Foreign Experts and Overseas Students Service Center, whose head office is located in Yuquan Campus with two other administrative offices located in Zijianggang Campus and Huajiachi Campus respectively.
The university had its first enrollment of international students in 1979 and since then, more than 25,000 international students have come to study in the school.
About Hangzhou
Zhejiang University is located in the historical and picturesque city of Hangzhou, Zhejiang, a beautiful and prosperous province in southeastern China with rich cultural heritage as well as fine traditional products such as silk and tea. Honored as “the most beautiful and magnificent city in the world” by the Italian traveler Marco Polo, Hangzhou was the capital of China in the Southern Song Dynasty (1127-1279). As a tourist resort with world fame, it now boasts many scenic spots and historic sites such as West Lake, Soul-Conceal Buddhist Temple, Six-Harmony Pagoda and the primitive Liangzhu Relics as well as four national museums of silk, tea, traditional Chinese medicine and pottery respectively. Hangzhou enjoys a mild climate throughout the year with four distinct seasons of special beauty. Hangzhou is only two hours from Shanghai by train or by bus. Many cities like Beijing, Xi’an, Guilin, Kunming and Hongkong are all within easy reach by train or airplane.

Living in University
Activities
Zhejiang University advocates international campus atmosphere, encourages communication and integrity between Chinese students and international students. International students of our university can participate in various culture, sport and association activities according to their interests. Every year, university holds various large campus activities, e.g., Student Festival, Sino – foreign Music Festival, International Culture Festival, etc. International students are encouraged to proactively participate in these activities. International College will also support and encourage communication between international students from different countries.
On-Campus Dining
There are three international Student dining halls respectively located in the International College Building on Yuquan Campus, Overseas Student Dormitory Building at the main gate of Yuquan Campus and Overseas Student Dormitory Building on Hua-jia-chi Campus. Meals are served in a a la carte manner.
Students can also have your meals in the student cafeterias on different campuses. It is estimated daily expenses for decent meals will be from 15 RMB yuan to 40 RMB yuan.
